My family and I have enjoyed backpacking in the valley of Pine Creek, near Buena Vista, Colorado.
Mt. Harvard (elevation 14,420 ft.), seen from Horn Fork Basin. The summit is just above a medium-sized snowfield. Mt. Harvard, the third-highest peak in Colorado, is located near the town of Buena Vista.

A view of Pine Creek valley (approximate elevation 11,300 ft.) from the summit of Mt. Harvard (elevation 14,420 ft.). The most prominent peak in the upper left center of the picture is La Plata Peak (elevation 14,336 ft.). The peak near Harvard in the center is Mt. Belford (elevation 14,167 ft.). On the horizon, the second peak from the right-hand edge is Mt. Elbert.

The Grand Teton, Teton Glacier, Glacier Gulch, Mt. Owen and Mt. Teewinot. The summit of the Grand Teton is approximately 7,000 feet higher than, and about four miles away from, the point at which this picture was taken.

This picture of Mt. Owen and the Grand Teton was taken at the mouth of Cascade Canyon in 2001. Wallpaper made from cropped versions of this image is available in sizes 1152x768 and 1280x1024. Sarah and her sister told me that the wallpaper looks like something out of the "Lord of the Rings". :)

Driving along on the plains near Amarillo, Texas, you'd never know that Palo Duro Canyon is nearby.
This Texas peach blossom, on a tree planted by my daughter Kate, flowered in my back yard in Richardson, Texas.
My maternal grandmother grew up in Atlantic City, Wyoming. This family picture was taken circa 1935.
My dad, shown in this 1967 picture, was a licensed Professional Engineer and petroleum geologist.
Sarah called my attention to this sunset in Richardson, Texas in December 2000.
